Organized Student Dev Hack
DataSansar Organized Student Dev Hack on Dec 7 2019. It was a hackathon for students who want to learn by working on real projects. The hackathon was organized in ACHS College Hall.
Student Dev Hack was an event for beginner coders/students who want to learn new things and create solutions for problems working in a team. The hackathon moto was:
Learn Build Share
The hackathon’s main focus was to solve problems related to tourism, education and health sector of Nepal.
Student Dev Hack was supported by Major League Hacking (MLH) and it was part of Local Hack Day Build.The event was also supported by Microsoft and Github.
Opening
I started the session by welcoming the participants, judges and speakers. There were 40 participants from 10 different groups. I spoke about the Local Hack Day and introduced participants about the rules and regulations of the hackathon. I gave a talk about the Microsoft Cognitive Services and shared the Azure Credit worth $100 which was provided by Microsoft.Then participants started working on defining the problem and designing their solutions.
Keep on Hacking
There were 3 judges/mentors in the event: Bibek Koirala Milan Thapa Rabin Gaire
The judges presence in the event helped participant to learn new things and get idea from them. The mentors went to all participants group and asked about their problems and solution for the problem. They also provided suggestions to participants for their projects.
At 2 PM we welcomed our speaker — and he talked about Technology and students. Milan Thapa spoke about his journey and experience of winning the Imagine Cup 2018. Bibek Koirala also shared his Knowledge about blockchain technology.

At 4 PM participants pitched their solution at the stage . The three judges selected Team ASCOL Guys as winner of the Student Dev Hack. ASCOL Guys created an app which can show the amount of calorie of a food using images. They used azure cognitive services to create the application.
We gave (T-Shirt and Bag) as a winning prize to Ascol Guys and shared lots of other swags provided by Microsoft ,MLH, Github with participants, judges, Volunteers and speakers.
Conclusion
Student Dev Hack was successfully organized by DataSansar team.I learned about technology and event management from this hackathon. It was wonderful experience to be part of this great event.
